Iznajazz is conceived as a grand celebration featuring the best live music, taking place in Iznájar's most interesting and emblematic venues.
In its 6th edition, we'll experience the intensity and rhythm of Cuban music in its many forms: bolero, traditional son, timba, salsa, Latin jazz...
We'll begin by learning the fundamentals of Cuban son in a dance workshop and then put our skills to the test during Timbalito Street's performance. We'll also enjoy two different jazz performances, either in Spanish or with a Latin influence, and the powerful experience of a salsa band with a horn section. We'll experience the music in the streets and squares, or on the freshwater beach of Valderenas, a unique setting where we'll combine the flavors of the best Spanish funk with paella.
Iznajazz es un festival organizado por la asociación cultural Allá Orillas con la financiación del Ayuntamiento de Iznájar y de numerosos patrocinadores locales. Está concebido como una gran fiesta con la mejor música en directo. Gracias por asistir.
Edelmis Pedroso and Fernando Wilhemi attempt to summarize their new project in a simple phrase: "Jazz in Spanish." Drawing on the popular music of various Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries, they have created a melodic and harmonic universe adapted to the concept of jazz improvisation for a collection of standards sung in Spanish: Bola de Nieve, Chabuca Granda, Chico Buarque... and original compositions with music and lyrics by Fernando Wilhemi. Edelmis was a member of the group "Mangüaré" for over 25 years and has worked with artists such as Omara Portuondo and Silvio Rodríguez. Fernando Wilhemi has combined teaching at various conservatories with his work as a composer, arranger, and director of the "Orquesta de Ida y Vuelta" and the "Big Band Latina Classijazz."

Timbalito Street is a Cuban music quartet founded in 2011 by Lino Díaz, a Cuban pianist and tres player. Together with Lupe Amador, also Cuban, on vocals and percussion, they created their own project, performing classics from the Cuban popular songbook with touches of jazz, their preferred genre and one that blends seamlessly with Latin music.
By adding Fernando Wilhelmi, a flautist, saxophonist, and composer with extensive experience in the traditional music of Cuba and Brazil and in Latin jazz, and Rolando Díaz, a Cuban percussionist and founder of Charanga Habanera, they have achieved an ideal formula that unites tradition and innovation in a single performance with flavors of both Cuban past and present.

If you sleep in Iznájar for the first time, you might think you hear delicate music that slowly approaches your window from afar, only to gently fade away again... You're not dreaming; you're experiencing an ancient tradition: thanks to the "La Aurora de Iznájar" association, the custom of walking through the town's streets performing these beautiful "Coplas de la Aurora" (Dawn Songs) during the early hours of the last Saturday of each summer is kept alive.
Guitars, bandurrias, lutes, percussion, melodica, and violin accompany the voices that bring this emotive music and lyrics to life each year, born from the imagination of Iznájar's early inhabitants—something you won't hear anywhere else. It's not a festival performance; Iznajazz simply includes it in its program so that it doesn't go unnoticed by anyone visiting Iznájar during these days.
